Yachtman Steakhouse- Orlando

Oh the Yachtsman. This meal did not disappoint and I would go back in a heartbeat. The service was top-notch, the food was very good. The steaks were cooked perfectly, smokey, and tender. The appetizers could have been meals. The only thing I wouldn't get again is the fries and truffle Mac and Cheese. Not that they weren't good but the creamed spinach I got, not pictured was really good.

Oga's Cantina - Hollywood Studios Orlando

Oga's Cantina is located within Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios in Orlando. The whole of Galaxy's Edge is pretty amazing to see. The area and theme are based on the Black Spire Outpost on the Outer Rim planet of Batuu, and for Star Wars fans the opening of this area has been highly anticipated. Sandly all of Disney is closed now due to Covid-19. However Disney did not disappoint when setting the scene for the whole land. From shops, attractions, eating areas, and Star Wars ships (Millennium Falcon anyone?) and droids it was so fun to explore.
Oga's Cantina is a bar. Family friendly? Yes, it's Disney, however, it is not a sit down restaurant. There are few tables and lots of room for standing at the U-shaped bar, or standing height tables. There are drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and a few snack selections. Knowing this I still wanted to go and take a peek. We had reservations, there was a two drink and 45-minute time limit while we were there. Which is more than enough time if you're there with kids and not there to actually have a drink and... well, you know bar stuff. Besides, it's Disney.

Jiko- The Cooking Place (Animal Kingdom Lodge)

Truth be told Jiko and Hollywood Brown Derby are in my bottom two of Disney Dining (as far as table service). This isn't a bad review, it was good food. I know many people love Jiko and dislike Tiffins, and we prefer Tiffins. Jiko is a gorgeous restaurant. The atmosphere is so lovely. The waitstaff and all of the staff we interacted with were top notch. True to Disney magic they made our experience wonderful.
The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't something we would go back for. Everything was cooked well, steaks were cooked perfectly, seafood was great, nothing over or undercooked. The plating was beautiful. I don't know, I just would pick other places if I had a choice. I would not turn down a meal at Jiko though. Isn't this the worst review ever? I never said I was a great writer, I have only mentioned several times that I actually suck at it.
On to the food.

Tiffins- Animal Kingdom

Tiffins is a table service restaurant on property at Disney World's Animal Kingdom. We had lunch there during our visit and it was one of our favorite meals.
Tiffins are the stackable lunch containers you see on top of the restaurant's sign in the photo above. I've posted some school lunches packed in these stackable metal containers here on my blog also. In some parts of India Tiffin can also refer to a light snack or midday meal. The name is fitting since the restaurant serves dishes that are inspired by travel throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, and the America's all of which was themes found throughout the Animal Kingdom.  It's a beautiful restaurant and I am so glad we didn't overlook it.

Chef's de France- Epcot

We've never been disappointed after a meal at Chef's de France. I love how bright the place is during the day and how romantic it is in the evenings, if you have a later reservation you can view the fireworks at Epcot. It's such a sweet place with big windows, beautiful architecture.
The cast members have always been so helpful. Lunch or dinner the food and service are consistent. Each visit the Chef has come out to discuss the allergy friendly foods and assure us that each dish will be prepared carefully for my daughter.

Hollywood Brown Derby- Hollywood Studios Orlando

OH Hollywood Brown Derby, how I wanted to love you. You and your famous Cobb Salad, Grapefruit cake, and rave reviews from so many people. Grapefruit cake that I anticipated and told my family about. I told them that you were wonderful. It would be a great meal. Where else would we go at Hollywood Studios?  Sigh. Here's the nitty gritty. Hollywood Brown Derby wasn't bad, I just really built it up I think.

Narcoossee's- Orlando

Narcoossee's which is an Indian Creek word that means "little bear" by the way. I looked it up because I'm a nerd like that. This waterfront restaurant is at the Grand Floridian Resort on the Disney World property. It's a beautiful restaurant. We didn't have bad service at all on our trip so stating that the service was great for us seems redundant but Narcoossee's was no different. The staff was friendly and so helpful. Our waiter had a trainee and he was also wonderful.
As with all Disney dinning they were so careful about what my nut free child could have. The chef came out to speak to us, and as each plate as put before her they mentioned it was prepared according to her needs. I can't tell you what a huge difference dinning at places like this makes for me. I know my child will be safe and I know that they take her allergy seriously.

Test Track Cool Wash- Epcot

Here is another post from our Orlando trip! I am not going to do a separate blog post for every snack we had on our trip, I will try to put them in one post per park... maybe. This post just happens to be one I started while we were in Orlando. This fun place is by the Test Track in Epcot. It's called the Test Track Cool Wash. Right when you get off of the ride and go through the exit you walk straight and see it. It is fairly new I believe it opened just this month. You get to build your own slushie and add toppings, all nut free. The beauty of it is that cast members build it for you after you fill out a little form. Read: no sticky floor and mess from over filled cups by the public. No toppings all mixed in and dropped into other containers.

Kakigori at the Kabuki Cafe- Epcot

Kakigori, a Japanese shaved ice was on my top three to you have as far as snacks this trip. For one you can get sweetened condensed milk on top, two you can get sweetened condensed milk on top. It's also Florida, it's hot.

Pumpkin Cream Churros- Disney World

I haven't blogged in forever, but iceI've got so many yummy food posts from Universal Studios Orlando and Disney World that I can't wait to share with you all. I wanted to ease into it by sharing these Pumpkin Cream Churros.
In general I do not eat Disney Churros (or most Churros). If I want  Churros I go to a Churro shop in my home town where they pipe them fresh and fry them to order. Even then I don't eat a whole one. They tend to be sweet and greasy.  My children ordered Churros  at Marimoto for dessert and they were meh, better than most but not really that great.
