What can I say about this book? As described below, this book is about people receiving information about who their soulmate is. The world is changed overnight.  It isn't a hoax, it isn't traceable. The whole concept of a soulmate and there being one person that is out there for you is so mindblowing and unbelievable as it is. Then there is the question of what a soulmate is. The author, Joan F. Smith, must have done a lot of research. I had a very narrow description of what I considered a soulmate to be. Reading different takes on what a soulmate could be, reading how knowing could potentially be both good and bad for a population. It was so very interesting. I found myself going back and forth about how I would feel about knowing, if I would want to know, and what if I didn't like the information I was given? This made the book very interesting to me.

The FMC Olivia is thrust into the limelight as she accidentally becomes a viral sensation, and all of a sudden, all eyes are on her and her reports about Soulmail. Olivia doesn't want to know who her soulmate is. She's faced with many obstacles in navigating this new life and new world. I didn't agree with much of what she did but I could see what drove her to make the choices she made. Her character and history are complex. Navigating a world where information like this is out there is so new and nuanced. Smith did a wonderful job with this engaging, interesting romance that is so much more. Such a unique way to write about soulmates.

The Little French Bistro is a novel by Nina George, about Marianne, a woman in her 60's who is in a loveless marriage. Forty years of her husband's indifference towards her. That in itself was heartbreaking to me. The book starts off smack dab in the middle of a chaotic and intense scene in Paris where Marianne has finally had enough of her life and attempts to end it. She is unsuccessful, but the attempt leads her down a path of self discovery. A path where she discovers that life with all it's ups and downs, sorrows, joys, and heartache are worth living.

Peasread: Beauty Begins

Beauty Begins is a Christian/Biblical living book about true beauty. It is about God's definition of beauty, beauty as He created it/US to be. The book talks about how we have lost sight of what true beauty is and are looking at ourselves and those around us through the world's eyes. Instead of seeing that we are created in God's image and are perfect we start letting what society defines as beautiful creep into out thoughts. After a while we forget that true beauty is reflecting God's image, His love, grace, mercy, kindness.
We can never reach the world's standards on beauty, trends change, we're all made differently (fearfully and wonderfully), we can't all fit into one mold.  But God is unchanging. He is constant, and He has made us perfectly, for a perfect purpose. To love well, and reflect him. It's so important that we remember this and Beauty Begins is a helpful reminder that we need to "Make peace with our reflection" and focus on what's important and what is eternal.

Peasread: Daughter Of The Forest, Sevenwaters #1

Hello, welcome to Give Peas A Chance, no worries, this is still a food blog. Today I am posting a book review. I have posted book reviews here before but they were also product reviews. This is simply a book review.  I picked Daughter Of The Forest up at our public library. We love the public library and utilize it often. This book is by Juliet Marillier and it is a trilogy. I hadn't heard anything about it I just happened to see it on the shelf and it looked interesting. The book is about 500 pages. It's not a quick read but it doesn't take more than a few days or so. Or a whole day and night if you want to be a zombie while pushing your kids out the door for school the next morning.
