Six Crimson Cranes: East Asian folklore, fairy tale elements. Exciting fantasy. Shiori is a strong lead character is brave, smart, strong. She has depth. A shape-shifting dragon, way cool. A curse that must be broken. A love story. A story about family bonds. So epic. A surprise ending. Perfectly woven together by Elizabeth Lim. I highly recommend this book to teens, young adults, and adults alike. This book is going down as one of my favorites. It is up there with Daughter of the Forest by Juliette Mariller.

A Dragon's Promise:
This sequel was a bit disappointing after how amazing Six Crimson Cranes was. I think reworking the first book could have made it a standalone. Shiori's character became flat, the dragon annoying. Shiori goes on a quest to fulfill a promise she made. We get to read about the magical underwater world of the dragons. Travel across the lands and seas. Learn more about Shiori's family. In some parts of this quest Shiori's brothers, her dragon friend Seryu, and her soon-to-be betrothed Takkan are along for the quest. I didn't liked this book as much as I did the first. I still think that it's a good book and helps wrap up loose ends from the first book. There was a lot going on that maybe didn't need to happen. I did like that Shiori found the closure she needed in her life.
If you read the first book it's worth reading the second. It wasn't as amazing, to me, however it was an enjoyable read.The book seems like it was written to meet a quota so it lagged in some areas. Entertaining, but nothing like the first book.
ABOUT A DRAGON'S PROMISE
