Grilling season is upon us and one of my favorite sides on the grill are anything to do with jalapenos or chili peppers. I was recently contacted by Cave Tools to see if I would be interested in doing a review for one of their products. They have so many on their site, I've been eyeing these claws though. How great would those be for pulled meats and shredding them for enchiladas and such? I ended up choosing the Cave Tools Pepper Rack because hello, jalapenos on the grill or in the oven. Which is what I opted for.
The Cave Tools Pepper Rack is a stainless steel rack that folds easily for storage. When the legs on the rack are extended they lock in place so there is no risk of the whole thing folding on you and peppers rolling everywhere. It is also dishwasher safe. I'm so glad there's no coating or anything on this. Just the sturdy stainless steel. No need to worry about unsafe surfaces that chip and peel off. Stainless steel is so easy to clean, I have been using stainless steel pots and pans for 14+ years. It is my material of choice for most items in my kitchen. The rack also comes with a tool to core the jalapenos with, and a free download of “The Grill Master’s Essential Barbecue Recipe Book”.
There are 24 holes in the Pepper Rack, they are big holes. Big enough to put the small end of chicken drumsticks in. Which is awesome. It does mean that you can't use small dinky peppers or they fall straight through. It's best to get peppers that seem too large because as they cook they shrink a bit. I cooked ours with a baking sheet under. The peppers didn't burn, they cooked through beautifully and none of my filling oozed out the sides which is a problem when you cut them in half and lay them flat. It's not easy getting poppers to not rock back and forth when split down the middle and stuffed. With this Pepper Rack, you don't have to worry about the peppers rolling all over the place.

The holes on the Pepper Rack are also perfect for stuffed mushrooms. All the liquid from the mushrooms drip down and you're left with flavorful stuffed mushrooms that aren't soggy. I can't wait to try stuffing Hatch Chilies and grilling them with this rack. I think I'll wrap them in some bacon also. If you're looking for a great popper recipe you can find 101 ways to stuff a popper on this blog post.
This Pepper Rack is also great for holding ice cream cones, the sugar cones. It sounds funny but the holes are large enough and the legs that lock keep the cones upright. You can also place paper sno cone cups in some of the holes to serve popcorn or other treats in when entertaining.
