Mommy Parties- Hearts For Hearts Dolls

See these beautiful dolls? They aren't just toys, they have a story. They have a purpose. Hearts For Hearts dolls are made by Playmates Toys company. These doll are not new to us, I bought the girls Tipi last year. She's the Lao doll pictured below. Well made, and just beautiful features. True ethnic looking features. Different and unique. The size of these dolls is perfect. Not too big at 14 inches. Tipi came with clothing a Lao girl would wear, a little story book, and accessories.
Each of these dolls represents a read girl, from a real place. Each girl has ideas to help make the world a better place for her family, community, and world. They want to change the world, and with the purchase of a Hearts For Hearts Doll a portion of the proceeds goes to their partner World Vision. We were chosen to help get the word out about these dolls, thanks to Hearts For Hearts and Mommy Parties.
Here 's some information about World Vision and this partnership from the website.
World Vision is a 60-year-old humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to tackle the causes of poverty and injustice. World Vision assists roughly 100 million people in nearly 100 countries throughout all of the regions represented by Hearts for Hearts Girls — Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Americas. The organization provides emergency relief, humanitarian aid, food, clean water, HIV and AIDS prevention education, child sponsorship, and assists in the development of new businesses and communities through their microfinance program
The Hearts For  Hearts mission is simple, but powerful. Here's how your purchase helps-
It’s an undeniable fact that girls in many countries struggle against a lack of education, medical care, decent housing, and clean water and food. But when these basic needs are met, those girls achieve amazing things for themselves and their families. Sometimes, all they need is a little help.
The Hearts For Hearts Girls™ mission is to empower girls to become agents of change in their communities, their countries, and around the world. We want to change the world one heart at a time, and you can be a part of that dream!
It all starts with our dolls. Right now, there are six Hearts For Hearts Girls dolls: Lilian (Belarus), Rahel (Ethiopia), Nahji (India), Tipi (Laos), Consuelo (Mexico), and Dell (United States). Each of them has an important story to tell about life in her country, inspired by real girls who are strong, smart, courageous, and determined to rise above challenging circumstances.
When you buy a doll, Hearts For Hearts Girls donates part of the purchase price through our charitable partner, World Vision, to programs that support girls in that country. Whether it’s malaria nets in Africa, schoolbooks in Asia, or food supplies in the US, these programs help girls to thrive and succeed.
Party details to follow.
For our party we were sent two dolls, one to giveaway and one for the my girls to keep. We were sent Lilian and Dell. Lilian is from Belarus and Dell is from the USA-  both are such pretty dolls. We were also sent bracelets, passports, and coupons. We happened to be celebrating Diva's birthday so I let her invite some friends over for brunch and a pajama party (we had 8 girls). I put the bracelets (2 per girl, one to keep, and one to share), passports, and coupons in a favor bag, along with heart pencils and and toe rings.
I love the bracelets, a good reminder that "just" one girl, can make a big difference.
"Changing the world one heart at a time."
During our party we talked about clean water. I asked the girls where they get water from. They said the refrigerator, the faucet. I talked to them about children/girl's around the world just like them, who didn't have easy access to drinking water. We talked about how these girls had to walk a long ways to collect water. Not only is this often times dangerous, the water is not always clean and the people get sick. We had an activity where the girls decorated envelopes to collect change/money in. I sent a letter home with the girls to their parents, about World Vision's Clean Water Fund and let them know where to send the envelopes if they wanted. The girls were so interested in this project, when I was talking about it Diva said it reminded her of a book they had read called Boxes For Katje. A book about children in the post WWII era collecting items to send to children affected by the war. All of the girls remembered the book, and that helped us have a good conversation about helping others.
Decorating envelopes.
For the drawing, my girl's couldn't agree on which doll they wanted to keep so we let the winner of the drawing choose. Diva's friend K, won and she chose Lilian to take home. All the girls loved the dolls, I wish I could have given each of them one. I did send them home with the coupon, it as code H4HAUG12 for $5off any doll purchased on the website HERE. Good until October 2012, while supplies last.
We all had so much fun at the party!

  2. So glad that you are partnering, Our child protection laws mean that the child sponsorship model isn’t used, so it looks a little different. so as they continue to grow up together.
