Christmas Angel- GIVEAWAY

I recently blogged about ideas rattling around in my head and how I thought I might start a new family tradition. I blogged about Elf on the Shelf, Wandering Wise men and a Christmas Angel. When I came across the Christmas Angel pictured above online I thought it was so cute. Perfect, really for what I was looking for. Something fun to do with my children with the focus on giving, on Christ and on God's gift to us. I wanted something that would point my children to the true meaning of Christmas, something that would teach them how to serve and honor God. Our Christmas Angel hasn't arrive yet but I've been reading up on her! AND I wanted to get this up for you all ASAP so you can win your own Christmas Angel! (More Christmas Angel posts HERE.)
I signed up for the newsletter and was emailed a calendar of ideas for a month. You must check out these ideas, they are so fun! It's free to sign up!
Here are some fun ideas from there
-Give your children flowers to hand out to people. Set your Christmas Angel up next to some flowers, with a note.
- Set your Christmas Angel next to a small craft box/box with a note to bless your postal worker. Have the children fill the box or write notes of thanks.
- Set your Christmas Angel in a mug with packets of hot chocolate. Put a note or write it in the glitter to pass out hot chocolate to people who work outside.
- Set your Christmas Angel up with markers drawing on a card. Leave a note for your children to make cards and write thank you notes for teachers, pastors, Sunday school teachers, etc.
There are also ideas to just spend time together as a family, have a fun movie night and so on.
Here are some ideas I was brainstorming, some are just for fun, some can be used as teaching tools.
- Put a star on the end of a skewer on a rope and have your Christmas Angel hold it over a nativity or set her in your tree. Put a scripture in her arms Matthew 2:1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
- Set your Christmas Angel out on the counter near a bowl of sugar and some red hots or peppermints. Leave a note out and have your kids "plant" the red hots in sugar. In the morning replace the candies with candy canes. You can also include a this great free printable with the Legend of the Candy Cane.

Here is more information about the Christmas Angel and how she came about from their website.
As a parent there is nothing more exciting than watching your little ones get hyped-up about Christmas. You anxiously wait for this moment, from the time they are born…and then that special time finally arrives. Your children become eager to help put up the Christmas tree, string up colorful outdoor lights, and listen to catchy Christmas tunes. This is our story; this is our tale to tell: Our oldest daughter was four years old, and our middle son was three, and they were pumped for what Christmas had in store. As any good parent would do, we thought of all the possible fun and creative traditions we could start with our children. We specifically wanted ideas that would make an impact on their childhood. STRESS!!! We scattered our memories of our own personal childhood traditions, and also discussed with our closest friends, what they did for their children. On a four hour car trip to the coast, my husband and I started brainstorming. We talked about Santa, elves, making homemade candies and cakes, but there was one thing we both agreed on. We wanted to teach our children the true meaning of Christmas, and instill in them values that would last a lifetime. Before you know it, The Christmas Angel idea literally fell into our laps! I jotted our creative thoughts onto a notepad that I was using for last minute gift ideas. The concept was certainly God-inspired, and this inspiration will stay in our hearts forever. What an amazing opportunity we have as parents to instill values and principles into our children. The Christmas season is about a precious story to celebrate a gift that none of us deserve, but have an opportunity to receive. The birth of Jesus is the greatest example of love. So how can we show the same love to others? Simply by putting others before ourselves. We should help our children focus on giving rather than receiving, for that is the true spirit of Christmas.
What message will your angel share with your family this year, that will make an impression on your little ones? Maybe it is something from your childhood, or possibly meeting a need for a local family in your area? Whatever it is, may it be a memory that you and your family will treasure. I hope your family is blessed this Christmas season and many many more. Merry Christmas!

  4. We ended up picking up one today to use with the girls, such a wonderful idea, and better for us than elf since we don't do Santa. The girls are so excited to find the angel in the morning! ~ck29_2000 @ SG
