Rumiano cheese rocks!

I love cheese, we're a family of cheese eaters here. What scares me about cheese sometimes is the milk used to make it. Hormones? Antibiotics? GMO components? Where are these cows from and how are they raised? I just want real good cheese, made from milk free of hormones and antibiotics. Organic and non GMO? Even better.
Recently Rumiano contacted me about trying some of their cheeses. Who could say no to that? We chose the mild cheddar and the pepper jack. Both cheeses had great flavor, not like some cheeses where you just have a rubbery texture, and either no flavor or just salty. The pepper jack, while flavorful wasn't overly spicy. Both had creamy textures, though they weren't overly soft. We just sliced both blocks and snacked on them. So perfect! I packed some cubes for the kids for lunches also. The cheeses would be great for grating also. Not only did we like these cheeses, we would certainly buy them. I found them at our local Whole Foods market, but you can purchase online HERE. Our cheeses arrived nicely packaged and still cold. Not just cool. The ice packs were also still frozen.

I love that this a a small family-owned business. They know their cheese, they know their ingredients, and they know WHERE their ingredients come from!
Here is more information about the company and their products from the site.
Rumiano Cheese Company is California's oldest family-owned business dedicated to the manufacture and distribution of the highest quality cheese. Our main focus is providing our customers with the utmost service and quality that we achieve by exceeding their expectations in all ways. Our success is measured by our loyalty to our employees and vendors and to the success of our customers.
All of our dairies are located in the Pacific Coast region of Northern California, which is known for its animated and vibrant scenery – from the crystal clear rivers that flow freely into the crashing Pacific waves, to the massive redwood trees that watch over the grazing cows. There is a direct correlation between these year-round grazing cows and their nutritious milk, rich in both omega-3 fatty acids and beta-carotene, that then translates to our high-quality, award-winning Rumiano cheese.
Our cheese is made using the highest quality Kosher and Non-GMO ingredients. We use organic-approved microbial coagulant instead of animal rennet, making our cheeses lacto-vegetarian safe. Natural sea salt is used for flavor. All of the milk used in Rumiano cheese comes from cows that are free of antibiotics, free of artificial hormones, and free of pesticides and herbicides.
All of our Rumiano Family Organic Cheeses are certified by Global Culture and USDA Organic, made using pasteurized, organic Grade A milk. Our organic products are the world's first cheeses Verified Non-GMO through the Non-GMO Project, and currently the only cheeses to receive that certification.
All Rumiano organic milk producers are certified through the American Humane Association’s Free Farmed Certified program, which guarantees customers that the organic milk used in the making of Rumiano organic cheeses comes from cows that are raised and treated humanely. This distinction is another first in the cheese industry.
It is also the first in the world to achieve non GMO Project verification!
Rumiano Cheese Company is proud that our entire organic cheese line, organic butter, and organic WPC-80% are the first in the world to achieve Non-GMO Project Verification. We support the right for all consumers to make educated and informed decisions about whether or not to choose GMOs (genetically modified organisms).
Catch up with Rumiano and let them know I sent you on Facebook!

  1. Sounds awesome!!
I have my own source of cheese that is non-gmo, and from humanely raised cows (aka my own milk cows in my pasture and the cheese I make from their milk!), but this sounds like a great thing for those who don't have that option! :)
