Pineapple Eye Remover Tool- #Giveaway

Okay, so you all are awesome. I had posted this blog post awhile back about Pineapple Prep and one of you pointed me in the direction of this video. I thought to myself,"sure that's pretty cool but I just don't know about yet another tool in my kitchen." But after watching the video I contacted Mr. Matayoshi and ordered some. He was so helpful, the shipping from JAPAN was fast. I mean really I was surprised. He also sent a few for me to giveaway to you all. Very professional, great customer service.
The tool is crazy easy to use. Even easier to clean, I just rinsed it under water. It's sharp too. The nice thing is the guards on the side (you can see in the pictures below) keep the blade from cutting off too much of the pineapple fruit. It just removes the eye portion. It's very sturdy, it hasn't bent on me or gotten warped or rusted.

Here are my pictures, although you should just watch the actual video also! (You can find that link
HERE)
This is what the tool looks like, it's light weight, easy to grip. Sharp, with guards on the side so you don't cut too deep into the pineapple.
First  twisted off the stem of the pineapple. Or you can cut it off, I ended up trimming it flat. I trimmed both sides so that it was easier to set the pineapple up and have it rest securely. It sounds silly but they get slippery.
 Trim off the skin.
I had to keep washing my hands, wiping them dry, setting up the pictures and taking them. So these may not be the best pictures to show the process. But you just take the tool and slide it across the pineapple eyes in the same diagonal pattern that you would when cutting with a knife. Except this takes way less time and way less effort!
All done, ready to be sliced.

  1. What a great idea. Even when I buy freshly cored pineapple I still have to go home and take the "eyes" out.
