Popcorn cupcakes

I made these cupcakes for the movie screening party we had. I just made chocolate cupcakes, and in retrospect a vanilla cupcake would have been better. Chocolate peeking through looks funny if it's supposed to be a bucket of popcorn ;).

All you need is
cupcakes
mini marshmallows
cream/white frosting
yellow food coloring
kitchen scissors and food prep gloves are helpful
Cupcake wrappers

It's easiest to make all the kernels before you assemble. Make a ton. Just don't tint them until you're ready to assemble them.
To make the kernels I did several things.
1. Twisted the marshmallows to look like kernels
2. I used scissors to cut kernels, 2-3cuts on the short end of a marshmallow then I squeezed it to make it look like a kernel.
3. Cut the marshmallows in the middle, not all the way through just half way, then twist to shape the kernel.

Make a small cut.

Shape and form.

Ta-da.

When you are ready to assemble the cupcakes take 2-3 teaspoons of water, and mix it with 1-2 drops of food coloring. Toss the marshmallows in it.
Once the cupcakes are fully cooled frost them. If you want a big mound of popcorn pile on the frosting in the middle.
Arrange the marshmallows on top. Put the cupcake wrapper around the bottom of the cupcake. You can find free printables online and free templates also.
